THE SHORT VERSION (FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE SHIT TO DO)

We collect the info we need to send you your gear and keep you updated. We don’t sell your data to dodgy marketers. We’re not Facebook. We use industry-standard security. You can ask us what we’ve got on you anytime. That’s it.

Want the full legal breakdown? Keep reading. We’ve tried to make it less painful than reading terms and conditions at 2am when you just want to order a pizza.

WHO WE ARE

We’re Hero’s Thread Ltd, a Liverpool-registered company run by an ex-forces, Registered Nurse bloke named Danny who got sick of activewear brands that don’t give a toss about proper sizing or the planet and used fake bullshitty marketing.

Our website: www.herosthread.com

Our email: team@heroesthread.com

Company registered in: England & Wales

Registration number: 16523672

We take your privacy seriously. Not “corporate PR seriously” – actually seriously.

WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT (AND WHY WE’RE NOT CREEPY ABOUT IT)

We only collect what we genuinely need. Here’s the breakdown:

WHEN YOU BROWSE OUR SITE

What we collect:

Your IP address

Browser type

Pages you visit

How long you stick around (if you’re here for 3 seconds, we know our site’s shite)

Why: To understand how people use the site, fix problems, and make sure it doesn’t load like it’s 1999.

The tech: WordPress (our platform), SiteGround (our hosting), and standard cookies.

WHEN YOU BUY SOMETHING

What we collect:

Name

Email address

Shipping address

Billing address (if different)

Phone number (in case your parcel goes rogue)

Why: So we can actually send you your order. Royal Mail won’t deliver to “that bloke in Liverpool.”

Payment info: We use Stripe to process payments. Your card details go straight to them – we never see or store your full card number. Stripe’s security is Fort Knox-level which is why we let them handle it.

WHEN YOU SIGN UP FOR EMAILS

What we collect:

Email address

Name (if you give it)

Purchase history (so we don’t spam you about joggers when you just bought joggers)

Why: To send you updates, launches, and the occasional bit of fitness chat that isn’t just “buy our stuff.” You can unsubscribe anytime – there’s a link at the bottom of every email. No hard feelings.

WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR DATA (SPOILER: NOTHING DODGY)

Here’s every single thing we use your information for:

✅ Process your order – obviously

✅ Send you shipping updates – so you know when your gear’s arriving

✅ Handle returns/refunds – if something’s not right

✅ Improve our site – if everyone’s bouncing off the checkout, we need to know

✅ Send marketing emails – but only if you’ve opted in

✅ Comply with legal obligations – tax stuff, fraud prevention, etc.

❌ We DO NOT:

Sell your data to third parties

Spam you with crap you didn’t ask for

Use your info for anything not listed above

Hand it over to anyone unless legally required (court order, etc.)

WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH (THE BORING BUT NECESSARY BIT)

We’re not handing your info to random companies, but some trusted services need access to do their job:

SiteGround – Hosts our website (servers are in the UK/EU)

Stripe – Processes payments securely

Shipping carriers – Royal Mail, DPD, etc. need your address to deliver your order

Email platform – If we send marketing emails (only if you’ve opted in)

All these companies are GDPR-compliant and contractually obligated not to misuse your data. If they do, we’ll kick off.

We will ONLY share your data with authorities if:

We’re legally required (court order, police investigation, tax audit)

We suspect fraud or illegal activity

COOKIES (THE DIGITAL KIND, NOT THE TASTY KIND)

Our site uses cookies. Not the chocolate chip ones – the little files that remember you’ve been here before.

Essential cookies: Keep the site working (shopping cart, checkout, login)

Analytics cookies: Tell us how people use the site (Google Analytics, anonymised)

Marketing cookies: Track if ads are working (only if you’ve consented)

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but the site might act weird (like forgetting what’s in your basket).

Want more detail? Check our Cookie Policy [link].

YOUR RIGHTS (YES, YOU ACTUALLY HAVE THEM)

Under UK GDPR, you’ve got proper control over your data:

✅ Right to access – Ask us what data we hold on you

✅ Right to correction – Tell us if something’s wrong and we’ll fix it

✅ Right to deletion – Ask us to delete your data (with some legal exceptions)

✅ Right to restrict processing – Tell us to stop using your data for certain things

✅ Right to data portability – Get your data in a format you can take elsewhere

✅ Right to object – Say no to marketing emails or data processing

✅ Right to withdraw consent – Change your mind anytime

To exercise any of these rights, email: team@heroesthread.com

We’ll respond within 30 days (usually much faster – we reply quicker than your New Year’s resolutions fade).

HOW WE PROTECT YOUR DATA (WE’RE NOT IDIOTS)

Your data is stored securely using:

SSL encryption on our website (that little padlock in your browser)

Secure servers via SiteGround with firewalls and monitoring

Stripe’s PCI-compliant payment processing (bank-grade security)

Limited access – only people who need it can see your info

Could we get hacked? In theory, anyone can. But we take every reasonable precaution, and if there’s ever a breach, we’ll notify you immediately as required by law.

HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR DATA

Order data: 7 years (HMRC tax requirements – we’d delete it sooner if we could)

Marketing emails: Until you unsubscribe

Website analytics: 26 months (Google Analytics default)

If you haven’t ordered in years and aren’t on our email list, we’ll eventually delete your account data. We’re not hoarding info like some digital hoarder.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS (IF YOU’RE OUTSIDE THE UK)

Our servers are in the UK/EU, so if you’re ordering from outside Europe, your data is being transferred internationally.

We ensure:

Adequate data protection measures (GDPR-equivalent standards)

Secure transfer protocols

Compliance with your local laws where applicable

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Our site isn’t aimed at kids. If you’re under 16, get a parent or guardian to place the order. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.

If we discover we’ve accidentally collected a child’s data, we’ll delete it faster than you can say “data protection breach.”

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We might update this policy occasionally (new laws, new services, etc.). If we make major changes, we’ll email you or stick a notice on the site.

Next review: Annually, or whenever something significant changes

COMPLAINTS (IF YOU THINK WE’VE MESSED UP)

If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your data:

Step 2: If we can’t resolve it, contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO):

Website: ico.org.uk

Helpline: 0303 123 1113

QUESTIONS?

We actually read our emails (unlike big corporations with their “your call is important to us” bollocks). If you’ve got a question about your data, privacy, or why we think most activewear brands are taking the piss, get in touch.
